SUBJECT: INVITATION: INVESTIGATION AND MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS - CAIRO, EGYPT, JANUARY 2007

Dear ICVA Members,

We are writing to update you on the Building Safer Organisations project (BSO) and invite your organisations to participate in our next learning programmes.

At the time of our last update on the project, Building Safer Organisations (BSO) had just undergone a successful evaluation by the Women's Commission http://www.icva.ch/doc00001781.html. Since then, it has embarked on Phase II: developing new training initiatives, establishing regional networks, and publishing a training manual and guidelines on preventing and responding to sexual abuse and exploitation (SEA). (You can order the materials in hardcopy by emailing us at , or access them on the ICVA website at www.icva.ch after the official launch on 4 December 2006.)

In January 2007, BSO will again begin facilitating the learning programmes so successfully piloted in Phase I. The first programme will be held from 21 to 25 January 2007 in Cairo, Egypt, on skills for workplace investigations into SEA by NGO personnel. It will be followed, from 28 to 30 January 2007, by a learning programme for managers on leadership responses to SEA.

We would be delighted if representatives from your organisations could attend. Generally, workshop candidates should be the personnel who are designated to conduct and manage investigations in your organisation. The selection criteria and application process is detailed in the attached application form.
